My Cervélo seat post keeps slipping? What should I do?
First, please confirm that your seatpost was installed according to the steps described in your bicycle’s Retailer Assembly Manual. For carbon seatposts in carbon frames, we recommend using carbon friction paste on both the outside of the seatpost and on the inside of the seat tube. For alloy posts in carbon frames, we recommend using grease on the outside of the seatpost and inside of the seat tube.
After the proper preparation with friction paste or grease, torque the clamp to the specification setting with a calibrated torque wrench. Please keep in mind that the torque ratings listed on seatpost wedges and in each bike’s respective product manuals are maximum values, and it may not be necessary to torque the wedges to the maximum value. For round seatpost clamps, grease should be applied to the threads of the fixing screw. For wedge clamps, the internal gliding surfaces should be greased, and the fixing screw has Loctite pre-applied (therefore grease is not necessary).
If these steps do not solve your issue, please take your bike and proof of purchase to any Authorized Cervélo Retailer and ask them to submit a warranty claim to us on your behalf. We will then work with the retailer to provide a solution.
